Charity initiative revisits the seven families included on their income protection journey.

7 Families was a charity-led campaign to raise public awareness of the financial impact of long-term illness or disability. The campaign followed seven different families who had lost their income due to an illness or disability.

Each family was provided with a tax-free income for a year, accompanied with a film documenting their experiences of how income protection was able to support them.

The purpose of the campaign had three aims:

  • raise public awareness of the financial impact of long-term illness or disability;
  • help seven real families who are facing financial meltdown;
  • demonstrate the value of independent living support, rehabilitation and counselling, through trying to help get people back to work

Now several years later, the Income Protection Task Force (IPTF) revisits the seven families who participated to find out what has happened to them since. These videos will highlight important topics such as mental health, counselling, ‘it won't happen to me', returning to work and the role of the adviser. This new series of short films will be made available during 2020.
